“rumble += dust!” was born out of a need to bring print to life and to experiment with frames, creating a perfect synergy between video technology and art. The image of the cloud of dust and debris that rises and fades evokes the transience of existence. The work was created in February 2023 and was awarded with the Print Club Award during the Neologia contest of Graphic Days 2023.
With the image of this cloud of dust and debris that rises and fades, aims to convey a sense of impermanence and fleetingness of the human experience. The wave-like movement of the dust cloud, with its continuous changes and shifting shapes, suggests the idea that life is constantly in chaotic motion and evolving, only to stop for a few seconds to allow its essence to be captured by the viewer and then gradually disappear. Each frame of the original video was extracted and converted into a grid of patterns generated by code, where each vector line with its length and angle recreates the areas of the image returning the chiaroscuro effect of the cloud. The grid, also in continuous motion, accompanies the cloud for the entire duration of the animation. Each frame of the animation was extracted from the original video, converted into a grid of patterns generated by code, printed via pen plotter, and scanned for the final realization of the video, for a total of +200 hours.
