Today I want to talk to you about a software I recent implemented in my printings: Patternodes 3
If you are a generative artist looking for a tool easy to use but full of features, intuitive, funny and experimental, Patternodes 3 is one for you.
Its simplicity, clearness and power allowed me to focus on design and experiment and less on the technical part. It also allowed to me to create what I was trying to generate with frameworks as Processing and p5.js.
Plus, I love the node philosophy and I think it’s a great game changer for the ones who wants to create complex design in few steps.
What is Patternodes 3?
Patternodes 3 is a tool that helps you to create generative designs as vector patterns or animations. This software’s interface lets you create sequences of connected nodes which represent graphical elements and other functions
How can help generative artist?
Patternodes 3, as I said before, it’s really simple to use and at the same time powerfull. I find it funny and experimental, perfect for someone looking for a precise design. It always shows up in the preview in real time and that’s pretty awesome! The software also has an integrated help section, warnings about misuses, and even sample content and manual.
You can create a non-destructive node sequence, and change any step at any time without having to re-do anything. This makes it easy to tweak repetition counts or element properties and see the result instantly.
These nodes can also be linked to each other, establishing complex relationships where one parameter will affect the others.
